Merrick Marino, Assistant Dean

(USD '96 M.Ed., '03 M.B.A.)

Merrick is currently co-chair of the First Year Experience Committee and Second Year Experience Committee.  He also supervises the office of Student Learning Initiatives, including the Peer Advising program, FRESH@USD program, and Online Resources.  Merrick is available to students, parents, and colleagues for general referral information regarding USD student support services.

Stephanie Bernasconi, Assistant Director (USD '08 M.Picture of Stephanie Bernasconi, Assistant DirectorA.)

Stephanie's primary responsibilities include coordinating the FRESH@USD workshop series and Peer Advising program, meeting individually with students to develop academic assistance plans, and managing the office.  Her current focus is redesigning and updating Online Resources for USD students.

Daniella Knelman, Graduate Assistant

Daniella is currently a master's student in the School of Leadership and Education Sciences.  One of her primary responsibilities is assisting with the launch of the Second Year Experience (SYE).  She is actively involved in the planning and implementation of the MORE@USD workshop series, and also is developing a website for the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP).

 

Fall 2009 Peer Advisors: Kristie Bergmann, Dawn Brunsell, Sophia Dyer, Dionne Dyt, Philippe De L'Arbe, Marla Harrity, Nicole Levin, and Katie Weesner

Peer advisors are both juniors and seniors at USD and have completed a semester-long course, Psychology 494: Peer Counseling, to prepare them to be peer advisors.  They meet individually with first and second-year students to assist them in identifying challenges, finding strategies address thos challenges, and connecting students with on-campus resources.   Dr. Erinn Tozer and Mark Jesinoski provide ongoing training and supervision for the peer advisors.

These students staff the front desk and assist with special projects.  Their responsibilties include managing clerical work including scheduling, data entry, database upkeep, and organizing programs and projects.
