Out-of-State Student Program

USD's Out-of-State Students

The Out-of-State Student (OOS) Program is designed to support students from outside of California through their college experience at the University of San Diego. Students at USD come from all 50 states and from countries around the world. Almost half of the Fall 2013 incoming class (1,238 students) hailed from outside of California!

Out-of-State Student Council

The application and interview process for the 2014 OOS Student Council is now closed.

The Out-of-State (OOS) Student Council works to enhance the experience of incoming out-of-state freshmen as they transition to USD. Council members will maintain regular communication with the freshmen from their region and help these students connect with first-year and continuing out-of-state students by organizing events and gatherings. The overall goal of the council is to improve the persistence rate of first-year out-of-state students.

The application and instructions for the 2015 OOS Student Council will be posted here next spring.

Featured Events

OLÉ! Weekend Dessert Socials

During OLÉ! Weekend, students are invited to attend a dessert hosted by their regional council members. This is a fun event where students will meet their regional council members as well as other new freshmen from their region. Times and locations will be listed here and in the OLÉ! Weekend schedule.

Welcome Phone Calls

In August, incoming first-year students will receive a welcome phone call from a continuing out-of-state student from their region. This is a great opportunity for incoming students to talk with someone about the transition to college and California, and make a connection with a continuing student on campus.
