How to Access Counseling Services
Currently enrolled students can attend a walk-in session or schedule an initial appointment with a clinician to discuss their concerns. Counseling Center staff is also available for students who need immediate assistance. All Counseling Center services are free and confidential within legal and ethical guidelines. During the initial session, the student and counselor will decide the best course of action to address the student's concerns. This may include, but is not limited to, time-limited individual counseling, group counseling, a referral to other services on campus, or a referral to a professional in the community. The Counseling Center provides brief treatment in order to serve as many students as possible. The nature of services provided varies depending on students’ needs and goals and the center’s resources. If it seems clear that a student requires longer-term treatment, counselors help the student identify community resources for treatment.
Students, faculty, staff, or parents who are concerned about a student or desire consultation or assistance in making a referral are encouraged to call the Center.
