Geek Becomes Her

Getting young women excited about careers in science, technology, engineering and math isn’t easy, but it’s worth it. It helps to begin early, with a target group of eager and open-minded girls, and offer them accessible outlets to explore. That’s where the national organization Expanding Your Horizons comes in. USD Biology Professor Sue Lowery, president of the local chapter, co-chaired the group’s 10th annual conference on the USD campus.
