Programs

  Students receive services by USD staff members such as academic/financial advising, tutoring and various culturally enriching activities during the academic school year.

• Tutoring in all subjects after school at both Kearny(3:30 - 5:00pm) and the Upward Bound office (5:45 - 7:45pm).

• Assistance with college and financial aid applications.

• Opportunity to visit various University campuses such as UCLA, CSU Long Beach, USC, and many more.
• Preparation for college entrance exams (SAT I / II and ACT).

During the five week summer residential program, students reside at USD and are immersed in the college experience.

• Professional USD staff members direct all activities.
• College students provide guidance, counseling, and tutoring as Resident Advisors.
• Students complete as many as 4 classes to prepare for the upcoming academic year (English, Math, Science, Foreign Lang, Senior Seminar, and electives).
• Participants take part in Educational / Cultural  fieldtrips once a week such as SD Padre game, SD Zoo USC campus tour, Balboa Park, and Mission Bay Aquatics.
