Dr. Angela Yeung Director, USD
Symphony and Chamber Music Ensembles
Dr.
Yeung came to the University of San Diego in the Fall semester of 1994.
She is
a former director of the Collegium Musicum at Columbia University,
where she
received her Ph.D. degree in music theory. A frequent adjudicator and
clinician
in the greater San Diego area, she was a guest director for the
Wesleyan
College Community Orchestra in Rochester, NY, the Peninsula College
Choir (with
Orchestra) in Port Angeles, WA, the Baroque Music Society of Hong Kong
and the
City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong. As a cellist-scholar Dr. Yeung has
given
performances, master classes, and lecture-demonstrations at the
invitation of
many institutions of higher learning, including the Manhattan School of
Music,
Cornell University, Rutgers University, and Brooklyn College in the
United
States, National Sun Yat-sen University in Taiwan, Nanyang
Technological
University in Singapore, University of Sydney and the Sydney
Conservatorium in
Australia, and various universities in Hong Kong, her native city.
Apart from directing the USD Symphony and the chamber music ensembles, Dr. Yeung is Director of the Music Program at USD and Artistic Director of the Annual Summer Chamber Music Festival at USD. In addition, she is Artistic Director of the Early Music at Saint Peter’s Church concert series in New York City. From 1994 to 2006, she was also Artistic Co-Director of Orvieto Musica, Inc., an annual international summer chamber music workshop in Orvieto, Italy. She is presently the President of the Western Division of the National College Orchestra Directors Association.
