SOLES Sustainability Committee

Sustainability is driven by economic and social development as well as environmental protection. As the Brundtland Commission describes it, sustainability is about enabling all people throughout the world to satisfy their basic needs and enjoy a better quality of life, without compromising the quality of life for future generations. Each day we must consider the future when making decisions, large or small. Through that lens, our committee's work focuses on:
  • Creating a climate and culture in SOLES that:
    • understands, cares about, and values sustainability.
    • promotes accountability and behaviors that are sustainable.
    • strives to improve operational and administrative behaviors that promote and support sustainability.
  • Preparing professionals to educate underserved communities by implementing policies and procedures that promote sustainable behaviors.
  • Providing educational programming that helps demonstrate the interplay and interdependencies between environmental, social, and economic forces.
  • Offering trainings, events, and seminars that help individuals obtain the knowledge and tools to meet and address sustainability challenges.
