Prerequisites: Passing the appropriate departmental placement test within the previous year. Introduction to the four basic language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Throughout the sequence, emphasis is placed on the development of communicative proficiency—with a focus on oral practice—and on heightening students’ awareness of cultural contexts. Note: course will be canceled if there are fewer than six (6) paid students enrolled as of Monday, May 14.
