Student Affairs Strategic Planning (SASP) Process

Student Affairs Mission Statement

In the Catholic tradition, we create an educational environment which motivates and inspires student learning and personal development, serves the University community, and challenges students to make a positive contribution to society.

SASP Process

To advance our mission, Student Affairs developed a strategic plan that identifies our priorities for a 3-5 year period and guides decision-making and resource allocation.  We began the process in the spring of 2008 with a review of relevant data and a strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) analysis at a division-wide meeting.  A steering committee synthesized the information collected at this meeting and from this, three themes arose: integrated learning, community and organizational excellence.  A working group was formed for each theme to develop an aspirational statement and goals.  The goals and objectives were synthesized, prioritized, assigned timelines and a convener and reporter by the Student Affairs Leadership Team (SALT).  Convener and reporters developed implementation plans for each objective identifying specific steps, timelines and staff to complete the objective.  We shared the final plan with the division in September 2009 and work toward achieving the objectives continued or began at this point.

After the initial plan was established, we developed processes to keep the plan current and relevant.  Unit goals are aligned with the plan and data from annual reports and other institutional data inform changes to the plan annually.  Conveners and reporters provide status reports for each objective at SALT meetings twice a semester, and this information is posted below.
