About Student Support Services

Student Support Services is a federally funded grant by the U.S. Department of Education to serve 160 eligible undergraduates at USD. The program provides opportunities for academic development, assists students with college requirements, and serves to retain and motivate students toward the successful completion of their postsecondary education at USD.

Eligible Students Must Be:

U.S. citizens or legal permanent resident

Freshman, Sophomore or Junior status

Enrolled USD students who are ONE of the following

Low income (determined by Federal Income Guidelines)

First generation (an individual both of whose parents, or whose only supporting parent did not complete a baccalaureate degree)

Students with disabilities (students who have a documented disability and are registered with USD’s Disability Services)

Services provided include: Academic Counseling/Advising, Tutoring, Career Counseling, Personal Counseling, Faculty/Student Mentoring, Cultural Activities, Grant Aid, FAFSA Assistance, Summer Bridge Program (SBP), Time Management Techniques, Note-Taking Techniques, Test-Taking Techniques, Essay Writing Improvement, Reading Strategies, Graduate School Application Assistance,
