Michael Burrafato became an entrepreneur at the age of 14 when he founded ONYX Global, a global consulting firm specializing in brand development, translation services and financial strategy. As president, he provided strategic advise to a variety of organizations, including Australian hotels and the Miami Dolphins.

While at USD, he was involved in the most philanthropic clubs and organizations the university has to offer, including Rotaract, Delta Sigma Pi, Phi Gamma Delta and the Changemaker Campus Committee, among others.

As part of the Honors Student Board, he helped enhance the student experience at the university by providing advice about the Honors curriculum, voicing student views about the structure of the program, planning social and philanthropic activities and working to attract prospective students to campus.

Through his engagement with USD’s Greek life, he led Make-A-Difference Day and participated in 20 hours of community service each year, including in service endeavors like blood drives for the Red Cross  and weekly visits to the Sunrise Senior Living Home.

“USD as a changemaker campus has taught me to how be a global citizen, instead of being focused on personal gain,” says Burrafato. “USD has such a different vibe than other college campuses. It’s one of the reasons why I chose to go here.”

Burrafato spent his time at USD working diligently to impact and embody what it really means to be a changemaker. After graduation, he will take his talents and entrepreneurial spirit to New York, to start as an investment banking analyst at Lazard.
