Requirements for Admission

Leadership Studies: M.A. in Higher Education Leadership

Minimum Grade Point Average

3.00 (4.00 scale) in all undergraduate coursework

Standardized Admission Test

Applicants at or near the minimum GPA may choose to submit Graduate Record Examination (GRE) General Test scores to strengthen their application.

Additional Requirements

  • Completed application, which can be submitted online at www.sandiego.edu/admissions/graduate/application.php.
  • College/university transcripts.  Applicants must submit one official sealed transcript from every college/university attended.
  • Three professional letters of recommendations from supervisors, employers, or professors.  Please do not submit personal recommendations.
  • Statement of purpose.
  • Resume.

In addition to program requirements, all international students must submit the following:

English Language Requirements

Official results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).

The minimum scores for the TOEFL are:
Internet-based test: 83
Computer-based: 237
Paper-based: 580

Financial Documentation

Certification of Finances Form and supporting documents

Transcripts

All applicants are required to submit official records from each academic institution attended after secondary school. Transcripts issued directly in English by the academic institution are preferred. Otherwise, all transcripts that are not issued in English must be officially translated by an approved agency.

Transcript Evaluation Report

Applicants are required to have their foreign transcripts evaluated by an independent credential evaluation service. Applicants may contact The International Education Research Foundation, Inc. and request a Detail Report, or World Education Services and request a Course-by-Course Report.
