Teacher Education Programs Application Process*
*For current USD Undergraduate Students
Spring 2012 Application Deadlines:
Early: October 15, 2011
Final: December 1, 2011
Steps to becoming a teacher at USD:
- Step 1: Declare a major
- Liberal Studies (for elementary school teachers) or
- Department (for middle and high school teachers)
- Step 2: Enroll in EDUC 381 and/or EDUC 382
- Step 3: Formally apply* to the Teacher Credential Program in the School of Leadership and Education Sciences (SOLES).
Application Process:
- Register for the next available CBEST*. Test applications are available online at: www.cbest.nexinc.com. List USD (Code 335) as a score recipient.
- Complete the Undergraduate Teaching Programs Application
- Two References
- Reference One: USD professor
- Reference Two: USD Professor or Professional in the field
- Submit an Unofficial Transcript
- Submit the Original CBEST Passing Card
- Submit your application to: ??
Next Steps:
- When all materials are received, you will be contacted for an interview.
- You will receive an Admissions Notifications from the Department of Learning and Teaching.
- Upon acceptance, students will be assigned a SOLES faculty advisor.
*The application must be filed prior to registration for the first EDUC methods course (EDUC 332P, 334P, 383,384 or 385).
**CBEST (California Basic Educational Skills Test). Web site is www.ctcexams.nesinc.com. Study guides are available in area bookstores.
