Leadership Conversation Project

picturePublic Conversations West and the Department of Leadership Studies, School of Leadership and Education Sciences (SOLES) at the University of San Diego created a formal partnership, Leadership Conversation Project, in February 2011.

The Leadership Conversation Project is a collaborative effort that utilizes SOLES’ expertise in leadership training and group relations with Public Conversations’ expertise in dialogue facilitation and training. The Leadership Conversation Project sponsors and conducts activities such as workshops, meetings and conferences; dialogue and leadership programs that meet campus and community needs; academic courses; and research.

Public Conversations West (PCWest), based in San Diego, is the first branch of the Public Conversations Project, whose time-tested approach, Reflective Structured Dialogue, is an intentional communication process that reduces stereotyping, demonization, and polarization while deepening trust, improving communication and collaboration, and strengthening communities.

In the 2010-2011 academic year, Leadership Conversation Project sponsored three workshops in San Diego for the USD and broader (regional, national) communities: The Power of Dialogue, Public Conversations’ flagship workshop; and two workshops created jointly by the Department of Leadership Studies and Public Conversations -- Letting Go to Lead: Convening and Facilitating When Stakes are High and Forging the Present: Leadership, Dialogue and Authority.
