Comprehensive Exam
The Counseling Program utilizes a Comprehensive Examination as part of the assessment of student readiness to complete the program. The Comprehensive Examination requires that students write essays related to core course content as well as their specialization courses. The focus of the exam is twofold: 1) knowledge related to case conceptualization, counseling theory and practice, and multicultural competencies; and, 2) knowledge related to program development, group dynamics, leadership, consultation, and program evaluation. The Comprehensive Exam is generally taken during or after the final semester of courses. The exam cannot be taken until all core courses have been completed.
