Dr. Erika Nash

Maggie Reynolds |
Maggie is in her third year of the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. She sub specializes in working with older adults, caregivers, and veterans. Maggie currently does her practicum work at Veterans Village of San Diego, a residential treatment facility for homeless vets with alcohol and substance abuse problems, and she has been a hospice volunteer for the last two years. She looks forward to her final year at USD and to the events and development that the Sigma Delta Chapter of Chi Sigma Iota has planned.
Aneesha Bhogal |
Aneesha is a second year graduate candidate in the School Counseling program at the University of San Diego (USD). She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), where she received a Bachelor of Arts in psychology. In her first year at USD, Aneesha was the 2010-2011 School Counseling representative for Chi Sigma Iota’s Sigma Delta Chapter, where she helped coordinate and organize several events. As the current Co-President, Aneesha looks forward to the 2011-2012 academic year, as there are many exciting events and networking opportunities for Chi Sigma members. Additionally, Aneesha is also involved in the production of the 2012 Action Research Conference and is the Operations Coordinator for the SOLES Action Research Office.
Jennifer Fowler |
Jen is a third year Clinical Mental Health Counseling student and this will be her second year as the Sigma Delta Chapter's secretary at USD. Her subspecialty is forensic mental health and she has done work with populations that have been affected by substance abuse disorders. She has worked for over two years with Dr. Morton Shaevitz, Ph.D., ABPP on research and published work regarding Geriatric Psychology. Jennifer was born and raised in Glendale, Arizona and graduated from Arizona State University with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. She has plans to move to Boston when she finishes her Masters degree.
Liberty Hebron |
Liberty is a second year graduate student pursuing a Masters degree in Counseling under the Clinical Mental Health specialization at the University of San Diego (USD). Originally from San Diego, CA, Liberty completed her undergraduate study also at the University of San Diego, earning a Bachelors degree in Biology in 2007. In addition to being a graduate student, Liberty is in her fifth year working full-time with the undergraduate population at USD as the Coordinator for the Student Leadership and Involvement Center, an area under Student Affairs. She is also in her first year working part-time for University Ministry as a Resident Minister in the Alcala Vista Apartments on campus. Liberty passionately serves as a Rainbow Educator, working with other USD faculty, staff, alumni, and students to bring awareness and visibility to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community at USD. In whatever spare time she has left, Liberty is a dedicated “foodie” – food truck fanatic and baker extraordinaire. Her familiarity with campus resources and procedures will be a great asset to her role as Treasurer for Chi Sigma Iota, Sigma Delta chapter. Courtney Kennedy |
Courtney is a second year school-counseling candidate. She completed her Bachelors degree in Psychology at the University of Arizona in 2010. While at the University of Arizona, Courtney was a peer mentor for first year college students as well as a mentor for severe at risk youth. She was also a member of Project S.O.A.R. where undergraduate students would visit middle schools in at risk neighborhoods. During her undergraduate career, Courtney was involved in many clubs where she attained skills that she is now able to bring to her position with Chi Sigma. She currently works for San Diego Youth Services as a tutor referral as well as at a tutoring/mentoring company called Xcite where she works with kids with special needs. At the moment Courtney is in her fieldwork at Mission Bay High School. She is involved in many extra curricular activities at her site. Courtney is a research fellow for Dr. Nash and is working on a mentoring project called Boys to Men. She is from Catalina Island and comes from a big family of girls. She enjoys playing with her dog Tico, and being in the ocean. Contact her with any input or questions!
Emily Maestas |
Emily is a first year graduate student pursuing a Masters of Arts in Counseling under the School Counseling specialization at the University of San Diego (USD). Originally from Tucson, AZ, she attended the University of Arizona completing her undergraduate study in Marketing, earning a Bachelors degree in Business and Public Administration in 2001. Emily has since spent over ten years working as a marketing professional in Washington, DC, New York, and San Francisco. During this time she acquired many professional skills that she has been able to utilize in her new role as a Counselor-in-training and CSI First Year Representative. While living in New York City she was a mentor for the StreetWise Partners program, which was the catalyst for a career and life change to the counseling profession. Emily currently works for the USD student affairs program, Outdoor Adventures, as the Graduate Assistant helping to promote outdoor activities to the USD community. She is also involved in the planning and promotion of the CS3 Fall Forum as well as the 2012 Action Research Conference. |
Lauren Mclean
First Year Representative, Clinical Mental Health Counseling

Lauren is a first year Clinical Mental Health Counseling graduate student and is thrilled to be a First Year Representative for Chi Sigma! Upon graduating from Indiana University in 2005, Lauren began teaching 6th and 7th grade English at an Orthodox Jewish Day School in Washington, DC. Her experiences as a teacher and as a CASA volunteer inspired her to go into the counseling field. Lauren currently tutors middle and high school students and is an educator for lululemon athletica. She loves helping people see the positive side of life and is passionate about goal setting! Lauren loves spending time with her dog, Samson, and being active in the beautiful San Diego weather.
