Aneesha Bhogal
Aneesha Bhogal is a second year graduate candidate in the School Counseling Program at the University of San Diego (USD). She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), where she received a Bachelor of Arts in psychology. In her first year at USD, Aneesha became involved with the Center for Student Support Systems (CS3), where she assisted with the 2011 Action Research Conference. She developed a strong interest in Action Research after the conference. Witnessing practitioners who were committed to continuous improvement in their practice through action research was inspiring to her. Currently, Aneesha is developing her own action research project at a charter high school and is the Operations Coordinator for the SOLES Action Research Office. She is also involved in the production of the 2012 Action Research Conference. Additionally, Aneesha had the opportunity to travel to Africa through the School of Leadership and Education Sciences (SOLES) Global Studies program, where she volunteered at an all girls’ school in Kenya called Daraja Academy and has continued to help with fundraising efforts. She is also the 2011-2012 Co-President of the USD Chapter of Chi Sigma Iota, an International Honorary Society for counseling graduates and professionals. |

Shelley Boniwell
Shelley Boniwell is a Graduate student in the School Counseling program at the University of San Diego. Shelley completed her undergraduate degree at Mount St. Mary’s College where she majored in Liberal Studies and Religious Studies with a minor in Sociology. After undergrad Shelley spent a year with the Jesuit Volunteer Corps (JVC) serving the community in Chicago at a local food pantry. After her year of service Shelley returned to San Diego to begin work at New Haven Youth and Family Services, a group home for boys in Vista. It was here that Shelley made the final decision to pursue a career in school counseling and apply to the program at USD. Shelley’s passion for action research began after attending the 7th annual Action Research Conference held at USD . Being able to witness the work of fellow students and hear of the progress being made globally through research was inspirational. Shelley had the opportunity to travel to Japan through the SOLES Global Studies program this past summer where she was a participant in a Japanese Association of Action Research (JAAR) workshop. Through this experience Shelley developed a new appreciation for, and understanding of, action which she will now use as a part of the San Diego Action Research Association (SDARA). Shelley was awarded a merit scholarship for the 2010-2012 school year to work collaboratively with the members of SDARA to bring awareness of action research to the local community and to provide support for local teachers and counselors using action research to strengthen their practices in education. |

Stacey Davidson
Stacey Davidson is a current graduate student in the School Counseling program at the University of San Diego. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Florida where she majored in Public Relations with a minor in Non-Profit Management. Prior to attending USD Stacey worked for Amor Ministries, a non-profit organization dedicated to eradicating poverty through the facilitation of volunteer work teams to build homes in Mexico, Africa and the United States. Stacey is a USD Graduate Merit Scholar Recipient working with Dr. Lonnie Rowell. She is a member of the Production Team for the 9th Annual USD-SOLES Action Research Conference. After completion of her Master’s program, Stacey intends to be a school counselor, focusing on students who are gifted and talented. |

Mica Nereu
Mica Nereu is a current graduate student in the School Counseling program at the University of San Diego. Mica received her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Claremont Mckenna College where she was also a member of the women's basketball team. After undergrad, Mica spent two years with the Southside Community Center serving the youth of Lafayette, Indiana in an after-school program. It was here Mica made a decision to pursue a career in school counseling and apply to USD. Mica’s interest in action research began after she was awarded a merit scholarship for the 2010-2011 school year to help coordinate the 8th Annual Action Research Conference held at USD this past May. As a current Merit Scholar she will continue her work on the Production Team for the 9th SOLES Annual Action Research Conference in addition to her position as Web Manager for the SOLES Action Research Office. |

Lori Olson
Lori Olson is a graduate student in the School Counseling
program at the University of San Diego. Lori completed her undergraduate degree
at the University of Colorado Boulder, where she majored in Sociology. Lori has
always been drawn to counseling, and she has been involved with several volunteer
experiences ever since she was in eighth grade. In her senior year at CU
Boulder she did an internship with Judy’s House, a facility to provide hope and
healing for children that have experienced loss. It was there that she realized
she wanted to pursue counseling, but she wanted to pursue a different specialty. After she graduated college she earned a
job working on the Marketing Team for Honest Tea, which she is currently doing.
It was during that time that she realized she wanted to become a school counselor. Lori is a first year student and is currently
a Merit Scholar for the School Counseling program, and she is the Event
Coordinator for the 2011 School Counseling Final Forum. She is excited to
obtain her masters and credential in California, and is looking forward to
finding a job in either Southern or Northern California. |

Marie Webb
Marie Webb is currently a Graduate Student in the Master of Education (MEd) in TESOL, Literacy and Culture program at The University of San Diego. Marie completed her Undergraduate studies at Loyola Marymount University, where she majored in Music with a concentration in ethnomusicology and minored in Business Administration. During her undergrad she was the Associate Entertainment and Arts Editor for the Los Angeles Loyolan, Loyola’s biweekly student run newspaper. She also enjoyed tutoring and mentoring high school students at Upward Bound a TRIO program funded by the U.S. Department of Education. After graduating, Marie spent one year working in Seoul, South Korea teaching English as a Second Language. She taught adult ESL at YBM headquarters, the leader in English language education in Korea. It was in Korea that Marie developed a passion for teaching and decided to pursue a Master’s at USD. Marie Webb is a 2011-2012 Graduate Research Fellow in SOLES. She will be working alongside Dr. Lattimer to develop the Department of Learning and Teaching’s Conferences and Special Events. Marie is also a member of the Conference Production Team for the 9th Annual SOLES Action Research Conference held in May 2012. In addition she will be supporting The 3rd Annual STARS conference held in February 2012, The L&T Supper Series, and several more events throughout the 2011-2012 year. In the future Marie hopes to continue teaching ESL while traveling the globe and writing about her experiences. |
