Preliminary Single Subject Credential

The credential to make a critical impact.

Make an impact on students' lives during key years by teaching in the departmentalized classrooms found in grades 7-12. This program prepares you to apply for the teaching credential required by California Schools. (Note that most candidates earn this Preliminary Single Subject Credential while working toward a Master's Credential Cohort Program in Secondary Education. This program is offered in a one-year or two-year format and offers discounted tuition.)

With courses like Methods of Teaching Literacy in Secondary Schools and Psychological Foundations of Education in a Diverse Society, you'll gain insights you can apply to your real classroom experiences during the program. You'll work with students in San Diego's own diverse community and start making a difference while you're mastering your teaching skills.
