The Jacobs Institute for Innovation in Education

In Recognition of Dr. Irwin and Mrs. Joan Jacobs

The Jacobs Institute for Innovation in Education is a non-profit, university-based research center at the School of Leadership and Education Sciences at the University of San Diego. We are delighted to be able to honor Dr. Irwin and Mrs. Joan Jacobs by re-naming the institute in their honor.  Dr. and Mrs. Jacobs were the founding donors to the Institute and have generously supported our work over the past seven years with multiple gifts.  Their commitment to the institute stems from their passion for education and their belief that technology can create better, more innovative, and more equitable learning opportunities for students.  Their generosity has funded graduate students and post-docs in the institute; technology integration in North Carolina, Texas, and New Bedford - Dr. Jacobs’s hometown; and, most recently, the build out of the Open Education Innovation Platform (OEIP), an open source learning management system gifted to the Institute from Qualcomm.  We are exceedingly grateful for their dedication and support.
