Strategic Alignment

We facilitate the development, alignment, and messaging of a shared vision to communicate clear expectations amongst stakeholders.

Competency Based Professional Learning

Based on a clear vision of what we want for graduates, we facilitate the development of explicit competencies of administrators and teachers to support the development of new pedagogies that foster deeper learning for all students. Based on these competencies, we ensure the professional learning ecosystem is aligned to support teachers’ diverse needs.

Superintendent Workshops

Project-based sessions prepare experienced superintendents and school headmasters to implement effective transformational processes. These sessions develop the strong leadership capacity necessary to achieve a technology-transformed district or school, fostering growth in student achievement.

Institutes

To facilitate the digital transformation, we convene central office, school, and teacher leaders to engage in learning experiences and activities that model new learning environments in preparation for authentic technology use.

Learning Space Design

District leadership works with learning space design specialists to redesign existing spaces to support new goals and best leverage facilities funding dollars. The work will create an optimum alignment between learning and teaching goals and classroom spaces to provide a more student-centered and teacher-supportive approach to the time, pace, place, and pathway of learning.

Site Based Leadership

Teacher leaders develop leadership skills and strategies to become catalysts for effective mobile technology integration beyond their own classroom and school site. Site leaders learn to design systems for ongoing teacher development through collaboration, feedback, and evaluation of learning outcomes that drive powerful teaching and learning.

Personalized Professional Learning for Teachers

Strategically designed by our professional learning specialists, this customized professional learning program delivers instruction to teachers on how to confidently transform their teaching to create powerful learning experiences for all students, promote mastery of content knowledge, and develop global competencies through integration of mobile technology.

Based on the district’s vision and site-based needs, we provide support to facilitate next steps in:

  • Designing powerful learning experiences accelerated by technology
  • Creating personalized professional development (examples include blogs, 4Cs, learning spaces, PBL, and blended learning)
  • Performing lesson study and analyzing student work

Micro-credentials

In partnership with school districts and Digital Promise, MTLC develops micro-credentials to empower teachers to take ownership of their learning and create personalized pathways to cultivate the knowledge and skills needed to create desired learning experiences for students.

Developing Digital Content

Teachers learn to develop and curate digital content, design lessons to meet the diverse needs of their students, and transform teaching and learning in their classroom. Our work with districts to develop digital content includes:

  • Implementing systems to support digital content development
  • Assisting districts to select and develop a suite of digital tools

The integration of technology into K-12 learning environments has gained momentum in recent years. Across the nation, millions of dollars are being spent to put technology devices into the hands of students and teachers with the goal of transforming educational environments and experiences. Research indicates the use of technology can support transformations in learning; however, this requires more than just the purchase of technology devices. Our research team has found that the effectiveness of technology integrations is strongly affected by a series of readiness factors, as seen in the following graphic:

MTLC works from the premise that schools and districts must address these factors in a manner in which they become supports rather than barriers in order to integrate technology effectively. The MTLC Tech 360°, a mixed-methods research process, provides schools and districts with specific information about the contextual readiness factors that either support or challenge the readiness of educational stakeholders for the effective integration of technology at their sites. This information, in turn, enables district and individual school leadership teams to make evidence-based decisions in order to address readiness barriers, build the capacities of stakeholders, and to prepare for the effective integration of technology and the transformation of learning environments at their schools.
