Community Models of Leadership: From Noticing to Mindful Action
This course is enriches students’ understanding of social movements and community-based leadership outside of Western thought. Through participation with Sarvodaya, one of the world’s largest peoples’ organizations, students experience how Gandhian thought and Buddhist philosophy influence this model of leadership and continue to shape social change in Sri Lanka. This trip includes an immersion component where students live with a Sri Lankan family, participate in acts of service alongside the community and explore the deep cultural history and rich spirituality of Sri Lanka.

1. The estimated program costs includes accommodation, transportation for in-country program activities, some meals, and program costs. Students need to budget for some additional meals and incidental costs.
