Description

The purpose of LEAD 581 - Special Topics  is to provide graduate students with an opportunity to receive graduate credits in the Leadership Studies program for participating and/or attending conferences, institutes, or other events related to their growth as a scholar and/or professional. Students enrolling in the special topics course(s) will be responsible for attending all conference events, completing the assignments as noted in your syllabus, and other papers and/or projects as assigned by the professor of record.

Coaching to Lead is an intensive experiential learning workshop-based course.  The aim is to provide graduate students (and community professionals) with foundational skills in leadership coaching.  The training is for two full days in the Marshall Goldsmith \"Stakeholder Centered\" Process.  In the workshop, which uses a tested train-the-coach format, an emphasis will be placed on giving all participants real-time opportunities to apply the methodology.  A classroom session before the workshop offers students an opportunity to tie theory to practice.  Following the workshop, a final session becomes a time for reflection on the learning and preparation for using coaching skills beyond the classroom.

There is no additional cost for workshop; it is INCLUDED in your tuition.

A non-credit option is also available for current students and alums of USD to take the workshop on a space available basis.  There is a separate fee and no classroom academic requirements. Please inquire with leadershipstudies@sandiego.edu for more details.
