This course is a practicum experience in teaching children with hearing loss in elementary school settings.  The focus is on a systematic sequence of observations, applications, and evaluations of various pedagogical approacahes in a variety of settings with children who are deaf and hard of hearing.  The candidate plans instruction for the class based on state-mandated content area standards.  Theory, practice and research are integrated into activities desigend to provide DHH education specialists with a multiplicity of strategies and techniques for working with students, paraeducators, general educatiors and ancillary professionals across the spectrum of eduation options.  This course stresses the implementation of individual eduational plans, including differentiation of learning for English Language Learners and children with multiple challenges.  The course also includes seminar classes related to the practicum experience.
