| Description | *This course will meet the international requirement for Leadership Studies graduate students. This course investigates trends and reforms in P-16 education in developing nations. Students will explore a variety of developing nations, however the focus will be those countries that have sizeable populations of immigrants and/or refugees in Southern California. Topics include: issues and trends in education in selected developing nations; human rights and education (e.g., equity in educational opportunity); affordable private schooling; the roles of NGOs in supporting immigrants; UN education policies and implications for all nations; international models of education; micro-lending in education; and social entrepreneurship.
