|Title||Nonprofit Sector Essentials|
This is a survey course designed to prepare leaders of all sectors by providing an introduction to America’s nonprofit nation, its place relative to other sectors, and its relationship to nonprofit sectors around the world. What are the dimensions of the nonprofit sector that make it unique and what does that uniqueness mean for leadership? The course will explore the development, history and nature of the sector, major issues it is facing, governance structures of nonprofit organizations, and the nature and role of philanthropy. Topics will include the responsibilities of nonprofit boards, the impact of regulatory reform and accountability measures and the role and function of volunteers.
