TitlePublic Speaking

This course provides students with the skills and tools needed to use communication (specifically public speaking) as a planned and purposeful strategy for engaging audiences and individuals who are potential donors and supporters of nonprofit organizations.

Topics: mastering the 5-point presentation model; research and analysis of audiences; development of presentations focused on benefits to the audience; the extemporaneous speech; the development and use of visual aids, electronic tools and media; the speaker’s image; use of humor and the appropriate use of persuasive tools, personal stories, and analogies; handling of the question and answer period; the call to action; and the practice of presentation skills that lead to masterful delivery.
