The New Children’s Museum is seeking Intern to join a dedicated and creative fundraising team in support of our Annual Benefit events. This is an ideal opportunity for candidates interested in pursuing a career in fundraising/development, event planning and logistics, and non-profits.

Internship Responsibilities

This position will be primarily responsible for supporting key aspects of the annual fundraising benefit events at The New Children’s Museum. The intern will work closely with the Development Coordinator to help strengthen the silent and live auction solicitations, organization, documentation and execution at both events (October 10 and 12). The intern will also help provide overall departmental support with administrative and event-specific projects. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Assist in securing in-kind donations of goods and services.
  • Get quotes from outside vendors, as instructed.
  • Assist with mailings, invoicing and thank you letters.
  • Help with cold calling and donation asks.
  • Assist with recruitment and training of event volunteers.
  • Attend Committee meetings.
  • Additional duties as needed.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Interest in fundraising and nonprofit management.
  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student.
  • Superior research, writing, editing and interviewing skills.
  • Creative, enthusiastic, well organized and detail-oriented, able to balance multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel are required.
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge and Greater Giving highly desirable.
  • Prior experience with fundraising events preferred.
  • Access to a laptop computer.
  • Must have access to an automobile.

Education

  • Minimum of 2 years college experience required.

The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an intern to successfully perform the essential functions of this internship. While performing the duties of this internship, the intern is regularly required to sit, talk, see and hear. The intern is required to stand, walk and lift or move up to 10-20 pounds. The intern must be able to verbally communicate in a concise manner.

Work Environment

The majority of work is performed in a museum environment with attendant noise level and requires observance of safe work practices, fire regulations, and avoidance of falls, trips, and similar office work hazards.
