Job Purpose: The lead teacher/teacher under the supervision of the Preschool/Daycare Program Director is responsible for providing services to CVPN’s clients and the community. Services will be in keeping with CVPN and center goals, mission, style, and theory of change provided within a collective framework congruent with the community we serve. Teaching staff is responsible for working within the team in developing team goals and objectives, and in meeting those goals and objectives. Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities: Establish and daily maintain a clean environment and center appearance;Conduct and record monthly fire and earthquake drills;Attend to children’s appearance and cleanliness throughout the day;Maintains state mandated ratios at all times;Report any reasonable suspicion of child abuse or neglect immediately;Attend and complete all required training and staff meetings, and participate in a variety of profession growth activities;Document all child and staff injuries, behavior, concerns, and unusual events. Report to management and communicate to parents as needed;Complete compliance with all federal state, local, agency, and licensing regulations;Monitor children’s health, administer basic first aid, and notify management;Plan, organize, and maintain functional and attractive classrooms that relate to curriculum goals and objectives;Monitor, observe, and interact with children during outdoor play activities to promote student learning;Develop goals and objectives consistent with individual student needs;Participate in program evaluation by analysis of student assessment, parent feedback, and agency results;Involve parents and families in student activities and participate in other community activities as assigned;Keep children well supervised and safe at all times;Design an implement developmentally age appropriate curriculum and activities, with organized and enriched learning centers, encouraging activity and generating interest. Allow children to make activity choices as possible;Supervise and train all senior mentors to ensure complete compliance with all regulations;Other duties as assigned and required by the Preschool/Daycare Program Coordinator. Qualifications: Minimum one-year experience in preschool and child development field ages 3-5. California State certification in ESL is required Experience in the area of developmentally age appropriate practices, child supervision, curriculum planning and implementation, parent and community education, and record keeping. Ability to work with a culturally diverse population. Minimum of 12 child development units for teachers, 18 units for lead teacher, each to include licensing core classes, (Child, Family, and Community, Curriculum, Child Development). Lead teacher preferred 3-6 administration units. CPR, 1st aid, and fingerprint clearance. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. We are an equal opportunity employer.
