Job Purpose:

The Preschool/Daycare Program Coordinator, under the supervision of the ELN Program Director,is responsible for providing services to CVPN’ clients and the community. Services will be in keeping with CVPN goals, objectives, mission, style, and theory of change to be provided within a collective framework congruent with the community we serve. The Preschool/Daycare Program Coordinator is responsible for working with the team in developing team goals and objectives and in meeting those goals and objectives. Responsible for the overall coordination of services within both licensed and unlicensed preschools within the catchment area. This position requires extensive staff training and development from directly employed staff at CVPN to community members seeking professional development who work in childcare services. The Preschool/Daycare Program Coordinator essentially understands setting the standard for quality of care and is able to relay how to develop this standard in catchment area childcare facilities.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Coordinate project activities including development, planning, implementation and evaluation;Participate in creating program curriculum and materials;Coordinate and connect families living in the area to school enrollment services;Advocacy and support for school enrollment, academic support services development and referral sources;Facilitate dialogues between Pipeline Navigator Associates and community members;Train volunteers and tutors providing on-going support and supervision;Mentor child care professionals living within the community;Identify and screen target families in the community and recruit them to enroll in school, academic support services and tutoring;Promote the literacy and tutoring services in the community and maintain school and parent relations;Prepare progress reports and maintain statistical data on required objectives and other vital information;Assist in the planning, organizing meetings and participate in all assigned meetings;Attendance at CVPN’s staff and program meetings; andOther duties as assigned and required by ELN Program Director.

Qualifications:

Minimum 2 years experience in a supervisory role. Minimum 4 years experience in preschool and child development field ages 3-5. Experience in the area of developmentally age appropriate practices, child supervision, curriculum planning and implementation, parent and community education, and record keeping. Ability to work with a culturally diverse population. Minimum of 18 units, each to include licensing core classes, (Child, Family, and Community, Curriculum, Child Development), with a required 3-6 administration units. Bachelor’s degree in child development or a closely related field preferred. Bilingual (English/ Spanish) preferred. Ability to teach problem solving skills and possess excellent communication skills. Possess initiative, ability to set goals, and prioritize. Organized and technologically savvy. Owns transportation, valid California driver’s license, bondable and insurable.
