Responsibilities

Lead curriculum development and instruction for Spanish I, II and IIIDevelop and teach engaging, rigorous lessonsDevelop and teach elective courses on subjects of personal passion and expertiseEstablish classroom routines and follow through consistentlyDevelop effective lesson plans, materials, and assessments aligned with HVAH standards With guidance, analyze assessment data and use data to inform instructionCollaborate with colleagues to share best practices and ensure student mastery of standardsMaintain close relationships with families, including phone calls and conferencesWith colleagues, implement academic intervention plans for students needing additional support; serve as an advisor to 12-15 students

Qualifications
Minimum two years full-time classroom teaching experience, preferably in an urban settingOutstanding instructional skills, including the ability to motivate and challenge studentsDemonstrated expertise in high school Spanish, and demonstrated student achievement resultsDemonstrated ability to create and maintain a warm, strict, orderly classroom environmentA strong sense of personal accountability for student achievementA belief that all students can learn at a high level and should be held to high academic standardsThe ability to communicate effectively with parentsThe ability to work effectively with colleagues as a positive, professional member of a teamAbility and desire to teach another foreign language in addition to Spanish a major plus
