The College of Education at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan is seeking colleagues to join in its urban mission of preparing “Effective Urban Educators [who are] Reflective, Innovative and Committed to Diversity". WSU is the only urban Carnegie I Research Institution in Michigan, and as such the College of Education values administrative candidates with urban experience and a commitment to social justice; faculty candidates who have urban experience, an established research agenda, demonstrated publication productivity, and a commitment to social justice.

 

Teacher Education Division Bilingual/Bicultural/World Languages: Seeking candidates (Assistant/ Associate/Full Professor) with a doctorate in Bilingual/Bicultural/World Languages or related field. A minimum of three years’ experience teaching PK-12 is required. Proficiency in Arabic preferred.

 

Early Childhood Education: Seeking candidates (Associate or Full Professor) with a doctorate in Early Childhood Education. A minimum of three years’ experience teaching birth-eight years is required.

 

Special Education: Seeking candidates (Assistant, Associate or Full Professor) with a doctorate in Special Education or related field. Candidates with a minimum of three years’ experience teaching in Special Education programs and teaching experience in inclusive, culturally diverse, and urban settings preferred.

 

Division of Academic Services Director of Field Experiences: Seeking candidates to develop a comprehensive field experiences program and to coordinate all aspects of the pre-student and student teaching placement processes, including development of placement sites, assignment of university supervisors and orientation of students and supervisors. Required qualifications: an earned Ph.D./Ed.D. in teacher education or related field, a distinguished record of post-secondary teaching/service for a minimum of 3-5 years in P-12 schools, and experience working in multi-cultural/multilingual environments with diverse populations.
