Description

Coordinates and evaluates educational, social, cultural, community service and community-building programs for Sixth College. Establishes goals and implements assessment plans for college programs to ensure that programs are meeting established goals. Utilizes assessments to modify programs as needed. Advises student organizations and student government committees and reviews and interprets university policies as they pertain to student organizations and their activities. Develops and implements programs to meet the needs of a diverse student population and assists in the development and implementation of college wide programs (e.g., Welcome Week, Orientation, Family Day, and Admit Day). Collaborates with students and other campus departments to develop campus-wide programs (e.g., Martin Luther King Jr. Parade, Chicano Park trip) and actively participates in campus committees and workgroups. Develops, coordinates and implements programs for commuter students and serves as the college's primary resource for commuter student life issues. Manages the Sixth College Commuter Center. Participates in the ongoing development, implementation, and assessment of leadership and personal development programs. Develops and monitors programmatic budgets to ensure responsible usage of student activity fees. Incumbent will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, to interact effectively and diplomatically with individuals and groups from diverse cultural, ethnic, socioeconomic and social backgrounds. Incumbent will present clear, concise information to a diverse population and to large groups of students, parents, and campus personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS

Master's degree in Student Affairs Administration or related field or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.

Knowledge of developmental needs of college students and co-curricular activities that fulfill the educational mission of the College and the University.

Knowledge of student development, counseling, and leadership theories.

Demonstrated ability to guide, mentor and work with students to set goals, prioritize, plan, budget, implement and evaluate social, cultural, community service and educational programs.

Proven ability to, develop, implement, and evaluate educational, community service, cultural, and social programs, including large scale, complex initiatives, that reflect the needs of a diverse student population with knowledge of the needs of special populations (i.e. commuter, transfer, and re-entry students).

Skill in coordinating all logistical aspects of large and small scale programs for college students, including risk management and budget management, as they apply to college programming.
