| Description | The San Diego Diplomacy Council is seeking an experienced, dynamic, motivated executive director to further the organization’s mission of promoting global understanding through person-to-person professional, cultural, and educational exchanges between San Diego citizens and emerging leaders from all over the world. The Executive Director’s responsibilities include:
- Oversight of day-to-day operations, including managing a staff of 3, as well as interns and volunteers
- Proposing and monitoring an annual budget of more than $300,000
- In collaboration with the Board of Directors, providing leadership in organizational strategic planning, fundraising, membership development and marketing, promotion, and public relations efforts
- Development and management of relationships with strategic partners
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
- At least five years of professional experience in a management position with a non-profit, for-profit or government agency. Direct experience with nonprofits as a board member or professional staff is highly desirable.
- An understanding of and sensitivity to international and cross-cultural exchange
- Proven ability in nonprofit fundraising, including grant writing, event planning and soliciting financial support from government, corporations, foundations and individuals
- Demonstrated financial planning and management skills, as well as personnel management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills, as well as solid experience with communication via new media
- Established contacts in San Diego’s international and business communities
Compensation: $50,000 salary plus health, vision and dental benefits
