Important Next Steps

1. Confirm Your Enrollment

Reseve your seat in our incoming class by submitting your enrollment confirmation form and enrollment deposit to the Office of Graduate Admissions by the deadline indicated in your offer of admission.

If you plan to start taking classes in a different term other than the term you were admitted for (for example, students admitted for the Fall semester who have permission to start a class early in the Summer semester), do not submit your deposit until you have notified solesadmissions@sandiego.edu of the change.

2. Create Your Student Email Address

Once you confirm your enrollment, visit http://my.sandiego.edu and click on Open an Account to set up your MySanDiego student account and student email address. Remember to check your student email account frequently, or have it forwarded to your personal email address so that you don't miss any important communications from USD!

3. Register for Classes

Once you confirm your enrollment, contact your department for academic advising. If you are unsure of who to contact, feel free to email solesadmissions@sandiego.edu and we will direct you. Once you know which classes to register for, you can register online using your MySanDiego portal.

4. Purchase a Parking Permit

Students who plan to park on campus will need to display a student parking permit at all times. You can purchase a permit on your MySanDiego portal or by contacting Parking Services.

Most SOLES students park in the garage underneath Mother Rosalie Hill Hall or in the West Parking Structure. A tram runs from the bottom of the West Parking Structure up to Mother Rosalie Hill Hall every 5-10 minutes when classes are in session.

San Diego tends to be car-oriented, but some students commute to campus using public transit:

  • USD is located on local MTS bus route 44.
  • The stop nearest to campus on the MTS trolley is the Morena/Linda Vista stop off the Blue Line. You can also exit at the Old Town station and catch a USD tram to campus.
  • The Coaster train runs 43 miles along the coast. You can transfer from the Coaster to a USD tram at the Old Town station to reach campus.

5. Pick Up your Student ID

Your student ID card is used for identification, campus cash and other campus business such as checking out library materials. Once you are registered for classes you can pick up an ID card by visiting Campus Card Services in the University Center, room 127.

Financial Aid

Financing graduate education is top of mind for many admitted students. If you have not yet applied for Financial Aid, we encourage you to apply today.

The priority deadline for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the SOLES Diversity Scholarship is April 1.
