Overview of Embedded Signature Assignments
All ESAs are scored on the Common Rubric (download Word Doc) provided below. The Common Rubric is a developmental rubric, and it is expected that a candidate’s level of understanding of each TPE will increase as he or she goes through the credential program. A candidate taking his or her first course in the credential program may satisfactorily complete the course requirements, but only exhibit a Beginning understanding of one or more of the TPEs in that course. Candidates are expected to exhibit Apprentice Level understanding of the TPEs to successfully complete Student Teaching.
Credential course faculty are required to submit scores on the ESAs for all multiple and single subject credential candidates in their. These scores are due on the same day as grades are due. See How to Score ESAs in TaskStream). The scores from all course ESAs make up one of the four major credential program assessments that are tracked by the Dean of Assessment Support and provided biennially to the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
