Join the USD Institute for Nonprofit Education and Research for a presentation and conversation on the characteristics of successful nonprofits that provide services to youth, focusing specifically on education. Monica Santos, nonprofit leadership and management MA program alumnus, will discuss her perspective as the director of a nonprofit in the border region as well as the experience of being the founder of a nonprofit. Be sure to bring questions as this session was designed to be interactive.

Monica Santos is Founder and Director of Advancing Students Forward (ASF) an educational nonprofit organization for needy youth in Tijuana, Mexico. The mission of ASF is to provide students with access to education and support for academic success so that they can create a positive future for themselves and for the community in which they live. ASF began informally in 1984 serving 1 student. Today ASF, now in it's 30th year, serves 70 students from middle school to the university level and boasts 17 university graduates.
