In this session:
Katie Martin, PhD, and Andria Shook, PhD student, will share findings from a study conducted in the spring of 2013 in the Solana Beach School District. After a successful pilot the district implemented a 1:1 iPad initiative in the 2012-13 school year focused on fostering 21st century learning environments through the use of mobile technology. This study examined the initiative as well as the experiences of district leaders, principals and teachers to transform classrooms to align with the district’s vision. This presentation will focus on district and school leadership along with professional learning opportunities that were perceived to impact the level of technology integration based on the SAMR model.
Zachary Gabriel Green, PhD, will invite a conversation on the concept “The Pixelated Persona” that he is developing for a working paper. This thinking explores how the Jungian construct of the persona is related to our presentation of the self (or “selves”) in the virtual realm. Particular attention will be given to the hypothesis that our digital lives, when less than consciously rendered, have a rapidly increasing potential of dominating how we are perceived in face-to-face interactions. Consideration will also be given to how the Internet, as a boundless open system, mimics the collective unconscious. Implications for leadership practice and research will be explored.
Please RSVP to MTLC@sandiego.edu by Monday, April 14, 2014.
