Join Dean Cordeiro, SOLES faculty, and fellow alumni at the Mingei International Museum to celebrate the SOLES Global Center.

Come check out the diverse and creative exhibits at the Mingei International Museum and enjoy hors d'oeuvres while we reminisce about the fantastic work of our Global Center and look ahead toward its future.

Mingei International Museum preserves and exhibits folk art, craft and design from all eras and cultures of the world. Mingei celebrates human creativity, and the belief that everyday object and materials that often serve a useful purpose can also be objects of beauty. Art can happen anywhere... in any culture, in any place, created by any person.

Current Exhibitions include:

  • Please Be Seated: Seating of many time periods and cultures from woven mats to high-tech contemporary designs.
  • Function and Fantasy: Abstract work made from bead, fabric and boxes by brothers William and Steven Ladd.
  • Log Cabin and Quilts from the Pat L. Nikols Collection: A collection of traditional quilts including Log Cabin, Charm, String and Signature quilts, and quilts made with feed, flour and sugar sacks.
