Mariko Peshon is currently the Postdoctoral Teaching Fellow in the Department of Leadership Studies at the School of Leadership and Education Sciences (SOLES). She earned her PhD in Leadership Studies, focusing on Organizational Leadership and Consulting. Mariko completed her masters in Leadership Studies at USD where her research on social systems focusing on incarcerated individuals with disabilities began. Prior to moving to San Diego, Mariko was a Critical Response Coordinator in the Office of Special Education, with DC Public Schools. She was responsible for investigating, mediating, and resolving all constituent’s special education concern. Her passion for education reform was sparked at a very early age when Mariko began serving as her younger sister’s special education advocate.
