Julie Zoellin Cramer, PhD, is the Deputy Director of the Institute for Entrepreneurship in Education (IEE) as well as a Senior Research Associate at the Institute’s two knowledge labs, the Center for Education Policy and Law (CEPAL) and the Mobile Technology Learning Center (MTLC). Julie is a graduate of University of San Diego’s School of Leadership and Education Sciences PhD program in K-12 public/private school leadership. Her dissertation focused on parent empowerment as a social movement and parent trigger legislation in the United States and was nominated for the William P. Foster Outstanding Dissertation Award. In 2012, Julie was named a David L. Clark National Graduate Research Scholar by the University Council for Educational Administration (UCEA) and Divisions A and L of the American Educational Research Association (AERA). Working with CEPAL since 2008, Julie specializes in innovative practices in K-12 education, including new school and learning space design. She was involved in the development of a charter high school on the 6th and 7th floor of the new San Diego Central Library. The school, e3 Civic High opened in September 2013 and has been nationally recognized for its intentional alignment of pedagogy and learning spaces.
