Cindy Lo-kuen Lam

Associate Director of the HKU Family Institute

Dr. Cindy Lam is head and professor of the Family Medicine Unit at The University of Hong Kong. She is associate director of the HKU Family Institute and the chief censor of the Hong Kong College of Family Physicians.

Dr. Lam is one of the few family medicine professionals who is profoundly interested in family. Her expertise in quality of life assessment has helped promote the family perspective amongst medical practitioners, both locally and internationally. Dr. Lam’s dream is for all family physicians to truly utilize the family and holistic mindset in their medical practice. This has motivated her to join Dr. Wai-yung Lee’s training team to promote family therapy in China through The Minuchin Foundation on Family Therapy, Hong Kong and The Mental Health Institute of the Beijing University.

In addition to her numerous publications, Dr. Lam is member of several editorial boards, such as Family Practice and the Hong Kong Practitioner Journal. Her joining FI has helped not only to promote the family perspective to the medical field, but also bring in her tremendous clinical and administrative skills in helping to shape the direction of the Institute.
