Sally J. Bennett-Schmidt


Sally Bennett-Schmidt, Ed.D., teaches Measurement and Evaluation in Educational Settings in the School of Leadership and Education Sciences masters programs in Learning and Teaching.  She has been an educator for more than 30 years working at school sites, at district and county offices of education, and at a private educational consulting company.  Dr. Bennett-Schmidt spent 15 years as a bilingual (Spanish/English) elementary teacher and a school site resource teacher with the San Diego Unified School District, followed by an additional 11 years as a resource teacher, program evaluator, assistant director, and director in the Standards, Assessment, and Accountability Division.  After 4 years with The Pulliam Group and the Educational Testing Service, she assumed her current position as Assessment Coordinator at the San Diego County Office of Education.  She now works with district administrators, principals, and teachers on balanced assessment practices that promote student learning and close achievement gaps.  Dr. Bennett-Schmidt has also worked in advisory roles related to assessment and accountability with the California Department of Education and the Association of California School Administrators.
