Michael Furdyk is the Co-founder and Director of Technology for TakingITGlobal.org, a global online community for young people, engaging hundreds of thousands of youth in over 200 countries and territories. The idea came about while he was rollerblading with his wife in 1999: Why wasn't there a place for young people to help each other with their ideas, to learn more about the world, and create positive change? Mike has also co-founded other successful on-line companies: MyDesktop.com, an innovative online technology community, and Buybuddy.com, a provider of comparison shopping for web portals and wireless carriers. Over the last few years, Michael has consulted for many Fortune 500 companies, and is also a board member and advisor to numerous groups including Microsoft, Pollution Probe, and the Anytime, Anywhere Learning Foundation.

Matt Spathas is a partner with SENTRE Partners, a real estate investment company and CEO of Bandwidth Now, which creates buildings of the future. Matt journeyed to seek out next generation real estate and best practices, touring 38 buildings in 5 countries and 12 cities. This tour also included visiting two K thru 12 international schools, the Western Academy of Beijing and Concordia International School of Shanghai. Matt is the founder of the educational web site ibrary.com which serves as a resource for educational innovation and best practices. Mike Schmoker, Ed.D., is a former school administrator, English teacher and football coach. He has written four books and dozens of articles for educational journals, newspapers and TIME magazine. His books are a rally cry for educators to focus on what counts. His most recent book, RESULTS NOW: How We Can Achieve Unprecedented Improvements in Teaching and Learning, was selected as a finalist for “book of the year” by the Association of Education Publishers. Mike argues passionately that students become learners for life when they have more opportunities to engage in strategic reading, writing with explicit guidance, and argument and discussion. Dr. Yong Zhao is currently Presidential Chair and Associate Dean for
Global Education, College of Education at the University of Oregon,
where he also serves as the director of the Center for Advanced
Technology in Education (CATE). He is a fellow of the International
Academy for Education.
Yong’s research interests include educational policy, computer gaming
and education, diffusion of innovations, teacher adoption of technology, computer-assisted language learning, and globalization and education. His current work focuses on designing 21st Century Schools in the context of globalization and the digital revolution.
Yong Zhao has published over 20 books and 100 articles. His most recent book is Catching Up or Leading the Way: American Education in the Age of Globalization and the Handbook of Asian Education. He has also developed computer software, including the award-winning New Chengo/ZON (http://enterzon.com <http://enterzon.com/>), the world’s first massively multi-player online role-playing game for studying Chinese.
