Sponsorship Opportunities

Individuals, businesses, agencies, and groups have several opportunities to support the annual conference (June) and the students' (grades 3-12) Character Matters essay contest.

Each summer CDC conducts an academy at which local teachers, counselors, administrators, parents and others interested in the character development of children and youth come together to meet prominent people in the field and to plan ways that they can develop character education initiatives in their schools and communities.

At the academy-conference, a special luncheon is held for student essay contest winners and their teacher and parents. Both of these major “character matters” events provide opportunities for sponsors to become part of the work necessary to enhance the character development of the young. Listed below are the funding opportunities:

STUDENT SPONSORS

There are 9 student essay contest winners in three categories—elementary, middle, and high school.  In each category the first prize is $100, the second is  $75, and the third prize is $50. Each student also receives a plaque. Sponsors can support the entire prize and plaque awards at $1500, or a portion of the awards at $500.

Sponsors will receive two tickets to the luncheon and name recognition on the program and plaque.

TEACHER AWARD SPONSORS

The Character Matters essay contest is only successful because of teacher support. We are looking for sponsors who will provide cash awards, gift certificates, etc. for each or all of the nine teachers who had student winners in the contest.

Sponsors will receive two tickets to the luncheon, name recognition on the program and on the gift certificate.

TEACHER SCHOLARSHIP SPONSORS

The cost of the academy-conference on character education is $175. We are looking for sponsors to help teachers defray this cost. The sponsor cost to support a teacher is $100.

Sponsors will be recognized in the academy program, will be announced at the opening ceremony, and will receive an appreciation note from the academy director and teacher.

TABLE SPONSORS

The 9 student finalists are invited to the awards luncheon, along with their teachers, and four family members at not cost. Therefore, we are looking for 9 table sponsors at $300 per table.

Sponsors will receive two tickets to the luncheon, name recognition on the program, and signage on the sponsored table.
