Community College Leadership Development Initiatives
The CCLDI, founded in 2000, encourages and promotes leadership development activities for current and future campus leaders, research dissemination and coordination, and opportunities to share information and access to professional development in community college education in the Pacific region. The CCLDI is a partner of the University of San Diego and is a recipient of grants from the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation and the James Irvine Foundation.
The Initiatives
The CCLDI and its Foundation (CCLDIF) aim to prepare and train current and future classified, faculty, and administrative leaders for the California Community College system by expanding five initiatives:
Leadership Academy - a week long, residential event designed for teams of trustee, administrative, faculty and classified staff leaders from a select number of colleges. The Academy’s emphasis is on leadership skill building and working collaboratively.
Doctoral Fellows Program - meets several times each year and brings together a select group of graduate students who are working on dissertations involving the community college. CCLDI assists them to identify relevant topics and locate high quality resources.
Coordination of the community college leadership development research Web site and publications – the collection and distribution of pertinent research briefs and leadership development activities for community college leaders.
Policy seminars - designed for a wide range of individual leaders and focusing on current issues in community colleges. The seminars are held throughout California.
Development of non-degree leadership development programs - promotes the creation of leadership development opportunities in graduate schools of education, professional organizations, individual university faculty members, state legislators, college districts, and others.
As a resident of USD, CCLDI adopts USD's policies on Non-Discrimination, Harassment, Sexual Harassment, and Hate Crimes.
