What do you hope to do with your degree and and why?

I hope to work at a university or college in student affairs, specifically housing. I really enjoy working with students and hope to be in a position that creates positive change.

Tell us about any internships, graduate assistantships, student teaching, practicum or fieldwork you have done through SOLES. Where did you work, what did you do, and how did it impact you?

I work as a graduate assistant for education and outreach in the Office of Sustainability here at USD.  I have the opportunity to advise student interns, give presentations to classes, and create sustainable programs.  I also get to work with the Sustainability Task Force and the SOLES Sustainability Committee.  This position has given me a greater understanding of the breadth and depth that goes into working at a university.

Have you completed an international experience? What did you do?

I am registered to complete my international experience in Summer 2017.  I am going to Northern Ireland and will be studying post-conflict education reform with Dr. Dews and Dr. Hubbard.  I am excited to participate in this program and be fully engaged in this topic!

Are there specific SOLES faculty, staff or administrators you feel have contributed significantly to your success? How have they helped?

Dr. Cheryl Getz and Dr. Christopher Newman have helped me succeed academically here at USD.  They are open and available in class and during office hours to answer any questions I may have and to bounce ideas off of.
