Teacher Preparation Programs
The School of Leadership and Education Sciences offers a variety of programs designed to prepare students to enter the profession of teaching.
Early Childhood Education
The M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialization in Montessori Education is designed to prepare students to teach in Montessori classrooms and includes an Association Montessori Internationale (A.M.I.) Primary Diploma, certifying candidates to teach ages 3 to 6 years in Montessori schools.
Elementary Education
The Master's Credential Cohort Program: Elementary Education offers students a Preliminary Multiple Subject Credential with an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction, and is designed to prepare candidates to teach in self-contained classrooms, typically found in Kindergarten through Grade 6, in public and private schools.
Secondary Education
The Master's Credential Cohort Program: Secondary Education offers students a Preliminary Single Subject Credential with an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction, and is designed to prepare candidates to teach in departmentalized classrooms, typically found in Grades 7 through 12, in public and private schools.
Special Education
The Master's Credential Cohort Program: Special Education offers students a Preliminary Education Specialist Credential with an M.Ed. in Special Education, and is designed to prepare candidates to teach students with Mild to Moderate Disabilities ages 5 through 22 in public and private schools.
Our John Tracy Clinic Partnership program offers students an M.Ed. with credential in teaching students with hearing loss. This program is no longer admitting new students.
Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL)
The M.Ed. in TESOL, Literacy and Culture prepares candidates to teach English to speakers of other languages in community colleges, English language academies, and other adult education settings in the U.S. and abroad.
