Annie Ngo

Ph.D. in Leadership Studies

About Me

My background is in supply chain and business administration and I have been working in corporate for the past eight years: six in defense at BAE Systems, one in higher education at UC San Diego and am currently at CareFusion, a medical device company. I am working full time as a Sourcing Manager, negotiating contracts, managing supplier relationships, and leading sourcing projects and teams. I also taught for Kaplan (SAT Prep) and business and leadership courses at University of Phoenix.

What do you hope to do with your degree?

Become a faculty member of a traditional university. I love to teach because it allows me to continuously learn with others. I’m open to doing some consulting with corporations to maintain my practitioner side.

Have you completed an international experience?

Not yet, but I plan on going to the Mondragon trip to Spain in Summer 2013.

How has your SOLES education impacted your career goals?

It has further strengthened my resolve to become an educator. I want to be able to help “dispense truth” and help others.

Which class has impacted you the most?

Since I have only been in the program one semester, I haven’t had a chance to do any internships, assistantships or teaching at SOLES, but I would really like to. I did get the opportunity to attend the International Leadership Association (ILA) conference which helped me get better understanding of what research is being done, meet some interesting scholars, and make new friends within SOLES. I took this as part of a course with Dr. Getz and would definitely recommend it to others.

Is there anything you would like to share with prospective students?

SOLES is a great school with great programs. It will change your life.
