Preliminary Multiple Subject Credential

Department of Learning and Teaching

Program Overview

The Preliminary Multiple Subject Credential program prepares candidates to teach in non-departmentalized classrooms typically found in elementary schools. This program prepares candidates to apply to the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) for the 2042 credential, which is required in order to teach in California public schools.

Please note that most candidates now earn their Preliminary Multiple Subject Credential concurrently with an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction through our Master's Credential Cohort Program: Elementary Education. This program is offered in an accelerated 1-year or 2-year format and offers discounted tuition for 2012-2013 and 2013-2014.
