Teresa VanHorn is the Director of the undergraduate Nonprofit Leadership and Management program. Teresa is also the field experience director for the Department of Leadership Studies and the director of the Leadership Mentor program. She teaches the following courses: Nonprofit Leadership and Management; Nonprofit Seminar; and supervises USD Leadership and Nonprofit program interns working in the community.
Teresa has a decade nonprofit management experience and over thirty years of teaching experience. She has taught internationally in India and Guatemala. Teresa has presented papers at the following conferences: International Leadership Association (ILA); the International Society for Third Sector Research (ISTR); the Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action (ARNOVA); the Nonprofit Academic Centers Council Conference (NACC); the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance; and the American Humanics Director’s Association annual meetings. She is also a reviewer for the Journal of Nonprofit Education (JNEL) and the Nonprofit and Volunteer Sector Quarterly (NVSQ).
Teresa received a 2015 Woman of Impact Award at USD. She is the recipient of the 2014 R.J. McElroy Scholar Award from the University of Northern Iowa. Teresa has been voted the University of San Diego Senior Class Professor of the Year and is a two-time recipient of the University of San Diego Mortar Board's Outstanding Faculty Award.
